Detroit for Spring Break

We left for Michigan early Saturday morning. Took our whole little family this trip. It's the way Luke wanted it. ;)

Airplane selfies

I can't stand to be away from this girl. So glad she came with us.

Paradise Park visit on Saturday.

Concentrating

He says he wants a motorcycle now. Great.

Drive by photography in Detroit

Luke's newest phrase is "shot out". As in...Mama, that building over there is "shot-out". Always adding to that vocabulary. Lol!

Somehow there's always a fire station around every corner. And they all are filled with the kindest men known to man.

Sunday was another fun day. We hit up Comerica Park for a Tigers game.

And even made our way on the field.

Loved the carousel inside of the park

Icees and random animals

They were able to run the bases, too.

My heart

Thinking this will be our last trip to Michigan, as Luke is doing so well with speech and fine/gross motor.

We have been so blessed to have had the best care for him. God has truly worked miracles in his life and in ours.

Can't wait to see Nancy Kaufman and all of our friends at Kaufman Children's Center on Monday morning.

Is it bad that I can't wait to "show off"?

It's been almost a year to date that we have been to the KCC and even though we email, share reports and notes, send videos and pics....it's just not the same as seeing Luke in real life.

Here's a recap of his year. http://fgr.am/f/A4GdsUmryU

Apraxia Awareness Day 2014 and Better Speech and Hearing Month

http://flipagram.com/f/A4GdsUmryU

Mark your calendars. Apraxia Awareness Day will be May 14th.

We will be meeting with Rep. Amy Alexander Carter to receive the 2nd (ever) resolution of the state of Georgia's Apraxia Awareness Day.

The resolution will be given to Luke at 'more than words' Pediatric RiteCare Clinic on May 4th.

Last year was the 1st day of its' kind and we were so blessed to have played a tiny part in bringing it to our state.

Please join us at the Better Speech and Hearing event and by wearing blue and white on May 14th.

I made the little flipagram video at the top of this page to celebrate our Luke and all of his MAJOR accomplishments.

Please take a minute to watch it.

Luke most definitely ROARS.

And we are ever so grateful.

To God be the Glory!!!

Valdosta State University Speech and Hearing Clinic

Wordless Wednesday....not because we are wordless.

Quite the contrary.

I just haven't blogged in a while.

Haven't felt like it.

And then someone messages me about my blog and how much it has meant to them or how much hope it has given them.

And I know that I have to share something.

So here are some pics.

I never quit taking pictures. Never.

Enjoy!

The Nativity

Luke wanted to be a giraffe or a gorilla in the church nativity last year.

I was just thrilled that he had an opinion and a voice to express it with.

And I seriously considered getting him his own special costume.

But instead, I just posted his wants on Facebook and basked in his progress.

We then had a long heart to heart about the difference between The Nativity and Noah's Ark and finally compromised on being a donkey.

Fast forward to this year, 2013.

Luke's preschool has a Christmas Program where it is tradition for the 4 year old class to act out The Nativity Story.

Luke came home at the beginning of the month and told us that he tried out for a play.

We made a big deal out of it. High fives and lots of hooting and hollering.

Maggie asked what part he auditioned for.

He came back with "you know that guy that is with Mary and Baby Jesus, I gonna be him. What's his name? Moses?"

And I giggled inside.

"Close, Luke. That guy's name is Joseph."

"Oh yeah, Joseph. I gonna be Joseph in the play at my school."

(Later he came clean with the fact that "they pulled my name from a hat" but still we couldn't be prouder of our Joseph.)

Although he didn't have any lines, they did sing 2 songs.

Away In A Manger has never been sung as sweetly.

And as the program drew to a close, he bowed. The only kid that bowed. (Wonder where he got that from?!?) ;)

Blown away by our little miracle and God's blessings.

Unexpected Staycation

When your AC goes out unexpectedly on Labor Day weekend and you live in the south, you try to sweat it out. But reality sets in quickly.

Luke got his "wish". He has been wanting to "live" and swim at this new hotel and that is what we did for the weekend.

Dimples and Shirley Temples

Sweet dreams.
